BARGAIN, BARGAIN, BARGAIN! Never to be repeated (deceased estate).
Situated in a Private Reserve amongst the awe-inspiring Piketberg Mountains, in one of the most beautiful ‘hidden’ valleys in the Western Cape, await this absolutely gorgeous thatched abode with all the extras one could ask for in a holiday/permanent home.
This 1 000 hectare reserve is one of the few remaining relatively pristine areas of Fynbos left on the West Coast. Largely Mountain Fynbos, rich in diversity, it is home to a number of rare and endangered plant species including a section of Renosterveld. Extensive list of species identified in the Reserve available on request.
Indigenous game returned in their numbers after a devastating fire ravaged the landscape in 2003. Species spotted in the reserve are Aardwolf, Dassies (Rock Hyrax), Cape Fox, Bat-eared Fox, Ant Eater, Genet, African Wild Cat, Caracal, Klipspringer, Common Grey Duiker, Cape Grysbok, Grey Rhebuck, Cape Hare, Baboon, Grey Mongoose, Water Mongoose, Porcupine, Striped Polecat, Cape Clawless Otter and a variety of bird species (bird list available on request).
Part of the Greater Cederberg Diversity Corridor and Cape Fold Mountains, the lucky few may even spot the solitary and elusive Cape Leopard’s spoor ... And yes, the magnificent Black Eagle nests on the rocky cliffs, outcrops and caves of the surrounding mountains. Absolute bliss for the nature lover.
Rich in history of days gone by with the original wagon road still in use today, and a place where Rhino, Elephant and various species of buck used to thrive, this valley is yet to be singled out as the leading getaway destination it clearly is – only 163km from Cape Town. (See some history of the Reserve under the heading ''Editorials').
